For almost all creators we manage, 75 to 86 percent of revenue comes from the chat: messages, PPVs, customs, tips. The subscription is only the ticket in. Still, most treat the chat as an afterthought.
What a fan actually buys in the chat
Nobody buys a photo. The internet has those for free. What gets bought in the chat is attention: the feeling that he, specifically, is meant. A set that is unlocked "exclusively for you" sells ten times better than the same set in the feed.
From that follows the most important rule: every message is addressed to one person, not to everyone. Mass messages bring in reach, the close happens in the one-on-one conversation.
The structure of a conversation that sells
- Open. Short, personal, referring to something the fan wrote or liked. No question that can be answered with yes or no.
- Build. Two to four messages that are about him. What he likes, when he is online, what he wishes for. That is not wasted time, that is the sales phase.
- Offer. A concrete offer, a concrete price, a concrete reason why now. "Shot something new today, only showing you, $25."
- Close. Do not disappear after the purchase. One message afterwards binds the fan for the next set.
The three mistakes that cost the most
Offering too fast. Whoever sends a PPV in the second message comes across like a vending machine. The conversion rate collapses.
Too cheap. A set for $5 sells more often, but the fan learns that everything costs $5. Test upwards: a price that every third person still pays is right.
No answer at night. Most purchases happen between 10 pm and 3 am. A fan who writes at 1 am and gets an answer at 9 am has long bought elsewhere.
Why bots do not work
AI chatbots get recognised quickly: the same sentence patterns, no memory of the last conversation, no reaction to irony. Fans notice within minutes, and they do not forgive it. What works is a team of humans with a clear set of rules: what goes, what does not, which prices, which limits the creator has set.
The rules you have to set beforehand
- Which content gets sold and which never.
- Price ranges for sets, customs and video calls.
- How the chat talks about you: age, location, relationship status, daily life.
- What happens when a fan crosses a line.
With us this is set with every creator in the first week. The chat team works by it afterwards, around the clock, in German and English. And you see in the dashboard what every chat brought in.
If you chat yourself: set fixed hours, answer within minutes, and write down for every fan what he likes. That alone doubles chat revenue for most.
